The e-commerce platform handles product management, order acceptance and store frontend provision for its customers and can be expanded with additional helpful functions such as theme customizations, logistics management, CRM tools or billing software through many community apps.

The company was founded in Ottawa (Canada) in 2006 by Tobias Lütke and Scott Lake and went public in 2015.
