THE BIG C Agency = Excel Agency

THE BIG C Agency has its roots in the “old” Microsoft Excel world. Early on, the declared goal was to make report worlds in corporations more attractive and interactive. With success. 10+ years of Excel experience and various analytics projects for reports later, THE BIG C Agency is still implementing Excel projects today. Even if demand slightly decreased over the last couple of years.

Microsoft Excel is still the gold standard when it comes to developing business cases.

– THE BIG C Agency

With the arrival of self-service BI tools such as Power BI, the importance of Excel as a classic report creation software has declined significantly in the past. However, Excel is still one of the best ways to calculate business cases and quick project calculations. In addition, the maintenance of legacy Excel applications is an important part of the work of an Excel agency.

About Microsoft Excel

Microsoft Excel

(Software)

Microsoft Excel – “Excel” for short – is a spreadsheet software developed by the Microsoft Group for processing, analyzing and visualizing structured data for business, scientific or private purposes. The software is part of the Microsoft Office suite and is available both as a desktop application and as a cloud-based online version. Excel was first published in 1985 and is now one of the world’s most widely used tools for data-based tasks and automation using formulas, macros and scripts.

Excel references

Data and internal reports and analyses are – rightly – a sensitive topic for many companies. Accordingly, we cannot list all Excel references here on the website. In some cases, we make do with anonymized and abstracted cases to show off our Excel skills. If you would like to see more references, get in touch with us and we can bring a few more use cases specifically for your needs to a personal meeting.

Order ID transformations to the desired performance report

For an online clothing retailer, we used Microsoft Excel to shed light on the performance of Google Ads campaigns and organic search engine rankings. In a world where the store system, store frontend and ERP all used different variations of an order ID, the flexibility of Excel with Power Query helped.

The result was an extensive look at cost-turnover ratios and conversions that could not be mapped in the existing systems.

20+ Checkout Step Report in MS Excel

Not every company can afford cost-intensive self-service BI software as a service offerings for data analysis. That is – for us – OK. However, the existing Excel reports should address all of the company’s needs and also be visually appealing. In the “Excel Funnel Report” reference, a report environment was created that evaluates the performance of up to 20 checkout steps on the customer website and allows extremely detailed date and audience slices.

In this case, Google Analytics 4 data was primarily used, which can be updated daily.

Calculate your own business performance in Excel

This customer from the broadband sector had little reliable historical data. In this case, it is extremely easy to generate this data using Microsoft Excel based on assumptions. In this reference case, an interactive input mask was used to store around 50 performance parameters in order to arrive at a business performance calculation for the period t+8 years. In addition, the modeling environment also includes an export functionality that works entirely without Visual Basic for Applications (VBA).

Contact us

Feel free to drop us a contact request via the website or find us on LinkedIn. We usually respond within one day to all requests. Responses usually include a proposal for an initial meeting. Initial meetings last between 30 and 60 minutes (depending on complexity) and take place remotely to save both parties the hassle of traveling.

What is your preferred means of communication? Either use the Fluent Form contact form or use your mail client to send an email directly to the boss’s inbox. In both scenarios, please provide 1 to 2 sentences about the problem so that the initial conversation doesn’t turn into a corporate headache and we can prepare for your needs.

Core Principles – Microsoft Excel

Many agencies out there promise clients “reports” or “evaluations”. In today’s world, this is part and parcel of digital services. We cannot and do not want to tell our clients that they should work with us. However, we try to apply a fixed set of basic principles in every project that binds us to a high standard and sets us apart from other market players in one way or another. Nevertheless, choosing an Excel agency requires a leap of faith – after all, we will soon know more about your company than you do!

We attach great importance to the aesthetics of Excel work environments. After all, people should work with the presentations in the files every day! It is therefore a good claim that when developing Excel reports, it should not matter whether they are ultimately displayed in Excel or embedded in PowerPoint.

We always create our Excel designs based on existing corporate design specifications. Our stated goal is to create report environments for the customer and their organization, not to become a report factory. Reports and dashboards are designed to be shared with people and departments. They should look like it!

In our projects, 80% of our work is carried out in our customers’ data storage systems. We very much welcome and encourage this. The data should be located where it is most valuable and where it is generated. Whether network drive, cloud storage, Sharepoint or data warehouse – we come along and pull the data into Excel!

Even though we at THE BIG C Agency pursue a commercial interest with our work, we do not want to create artificial dependencies with our projects. When we start projects, we try to prepare the client organizations for two scenarios: Firstly, we want to end and automate projects at some point. Anything else would not be projects, but employment relationships. Secondly, when we leave, the customer organization is in a position to continue to manage the Excel report infrastructure we have created. Because the true potential of business intelligence lies in speed. Collaboration with external service providers – no matter how well structured – always causes delays in work processes.

It is amazing how many companies function on the basis of legacy Excel tools. In this world, it is essential that new files, functions and reports are documented interactively and in detail.

Excel agency on site?

In our experience, Excel projects often require an initial on-site component. The ideas of “what data and reports must be able to do” are often too complex to verbalize and outline in video calls. Accordingly, we are always ready to travel to meet the needs of our clients in Germany and Europe. However, the majority of the project duration is handled remotely in order to save customers and our Power BI wizards costs and effort.

Would you like to get to know us personally? Our home base is the Rhine metropolis of Düsseldorf and we can often be found working in the SPACES Andreasquartier Düsseldorf and the Medienhafen.
